Swap Sweeping for Services
Doug Mayo, of MPL Sweeping wrote to say:For the past several years we have worked out an arrangement with a local tire store to trade sweeping for tires. We have our own changer, so we prefer used tires over new ones since we can have 3 tires with 1/2 tread for the price of just one new one. The only time we have to purchase tires any more is once a year when we buy new traction treads with studs for snow and ice conditions.
Editor's Note: After this Tip was first printed, we heard from many contractors who are bartering for a wide variety of services, from fast food to printing services. Keep in mind, however, that barter is considered the same as cash by the IRS, so you will no doubt want to keep good records of your bartering activities.
